FREEDIVER COURSE FOR BEGINNERS AT NORTH BORNEO BIOSTATION
All beginner Freedivers, and those who want to try this feeling of freedom in the underwater world, welcome to North Borneo Biostation. This is a perfect place to start your freediving adventure. We offer accommodation in comfortable bungalows in the middle of rainforest on the wild shore not far from legendary Tip of Borneo.
We advise you to take with us PADI Freediver course, which is the first step into freediving world. It is suitable for those who are completely new to freediving but are reasonably happy swimming. It also works well if you have done a bit of freediving or some snorkelling but do not have a qualification yet. It is widely recognised as an equivalent to AIDA 2 Star or SSI Level 1 Certification.
Our professional instructor will explain you all the basics about freediving, including disciplines of competitive freediving, safety issues, basic breathing techniques, relaxation, visualization, marine mammal reflex, equalization, training tables and freediving equipment. The target depth after two days is 10-16 metres. The course also covers freedive buddying skills and practice in basic rescue scenarios.
Prerequisites: age 16 and above. You’ll need to be reasonably fit and happy in the water. You should be able to swim at least 200m with no swim aids.

PADI BASIC FREEDIVER
This is a confined water only certification and it includes development of basic knowledge and a water session. This course is meant for students for whom an open water session is not feasible or desirable.
Duration: 1 day
PADI FREEDIVER*
After basic knowledge development, this course provides basics in the confined water before taking students to open water. The target figures are: static 1’30”, dynamic 25m, FIM/CWT(depth) 10-16m
Duration: 2.5 days
AIDA 1* (currently not available)
Beginner course similar to PADI BASIC FREEDIVER, has no theory exam but has an open water session
Duration: 1 day
AIDA 2* (currently not available)
A bit more demanding than PADI FREEDIVER, The target figures are: static 2′, dynamic 40m, FIM/CWT(depth) 16-20m
Duration: 3 days
AIDA 3* (currently not available)
A course for certified freedivers. The target figures are: static 2’45”, dynamic 55m, FIM/CWT(depth) 24-30m

Price for PADI: RM1325/pax
Single occupancy: +RM360 (high season), +RM240 (the rest)
Sharing room (double or twin) with non-diving partner: +RM405

After that please send us email, explaining all other details of booking, i.e., who takes the course, diving/non-diving partner, single occupancy, etc. You will get confirmation email with full cost of your reservation. Please mind that diving is always weather dependent. A couple of days before your coming here we shall confirm if the weather forecast is favourable and may suggest alternative dates for your stay but hopefully this will not be necessary.
